Laura Pierce is a Biomedical Engineer within the Biomaterials and Biosystems Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Her expertise supports the Regenerative Medicine community, where she focuses on the development of critical standards, analytical methods, and reference materials for cellular characterization. Currently, Laura leads an International Standards Organization (ISO) initiative to establish a global technical standard for cell viability. Her research explores measurement assurance tools and their critical role in understanding cellular function. She holds a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University.
