Jacob Somerson, PhD (he/him) founded and leads the Medical Writing Transparency function at Travere Therapeutics, leads Medical Writing Quality Control, and serves on the leadership of the VOICE Employee Resource Group.
Jacob’s teams write Plain Language summary documents, disclosures, and review documents and strategy for global CTAs and submissions. During an ongoing MAA, Jacob built an agile review team (the redactyls) and an escalating leadership review model that led Travere to its first approved Policy 0070 disclosure. Jacob trains cross-functional leadership and serves on a company-wide Plain Language Working Group.
Jacob has built teams across medical devices, in vitro diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals from early and late development through commercialization. When not reviewing document markup, Jacob enjoys making pottery, spending too much money on dog toys, and volunteer work.
