Profile

Dr. Patrick O. Gee is a distinguished healthcare consultant, community activist, and servant-leader who brings a systems-level lens to social justice and health equity. As a Lived Experienced leader in the Cardiovascular Kidney Metabolic Health (CKMH) collaborative, he spearheads interdisciplinary strategies that unite cardiovascular, Kidney, and metabolic care pathways. His work within CKMH advances integrated prevention and treatment models, ensuring that complex comorbidities are addressed through a unified, patient-centered approach.

Dr. Gee holds a BS, an MS in Criminal Justice, and a PhD in Justice, Law, and Criminology. Over 24 years with the Virginia Department of Corrections, retiring as a Corrections Major and Chief of Security, he earned extensive DCJS certifications in instruction, defensive tactics, EVOC, chemical munitions, firearms, and canine handling. His service has been recognized with the Virginia DOC Volunteerism and Community Outreach Award, the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism, and the NABCJ Owen Bell Award for Chapter Development.

As Chief Executive Hope Dealer at iAdvocate, Inc., and an Ordained Elder at Mountain Movers Ministry, Dr. Gee champions health and wellness among underserved populations. He guides iAdvocate’s initiatives to dismantle barriers to care, combining medical innovation with educational programming. In every clinical encounter, central to his philosophy is human-centric care, emphasizing the whole person, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Dr. Gee’s leadership in clinical research spans major PCORI-funded trials and federally supported studies. He serves as Co-Chair for the RECHARGE (Revascularization Choices Among Underrepresented Groups Evaluation) Stud’s Steering Committee, co-investigator for HOLISTIC (Heart-Kidney-Diabetes Multidisciplinary Care Model for Cardiovascular Health in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and Diabetes: A Pragmatic Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial), American Heart Association’s Patient Advisory Group for CKMH, and is a steering committee member for the National Institute on Aging’s KDARC (Kidney Disease Aging Research Collaborative) Research Infrastructure to Advance the Science of Geriatric Nephrology. Through these collaborations, he drives evidence-based improvements in care delivery for populations disproportionately affected by chronic disease.

Despite personal battles with Stage 3b end-stage kidney disease and multiple post-transplant surgeries, Dr. Gee’s resilience undergirds a powerful advocacy voice. “I am the voice for the voiceless and the face for the faceless in the fight against kidney disease,” captures his commitment to health equity and holistic support for those who are often marginalized.

Dr. Patrick O. Gee’s career exemplifies the intersection of perseverance, scholarship, and compassionate action. He invites collaborators, from health systems to faith communities, to join him in dismantling barriers, amplifying unheard stories, and cultivating a future where everyone receives the dignified, human-centric care they deserve.
