After completing her law degrees in France and the United States, Elodie Vandenhende became a member of both the Paris and New York legal bars. She then began her career as a lawyer specializing in competition law at an international law firm.
In 2008, she took the role as advisor to the Secretary General of the French Presidency of the European Union after which she joined the cabinet of the Minister of Economy and Finance as advisor in charge of European affairs for three years. In 2012, she moved on within the Ministry of Finance to lead and win the first cases on behalf of the French government against some of the largest companies in the digital economy for unfair trading practices.
In July 2018, she was appointed strategic adviser of Madame Isabelle de Silva, President of the French Competition Authority, in order to reflect on the adaptation of the competition rules to the challenges of digital economy. In this capacity, she notably represented the Authority at France's New Digital Regulations Convention and in the working group set up by the government to work on regulation of digital platforms at the European level. Since September 2020, she has been a case handler at the newly created digital economy unit within the French Competition Autority.
