Profile

Abiola is a highly respected General Counsel and legal strategist, specialising in construction law, contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and commercial dispute resolution. With extensive experience advising private sector companies, public institutions, and international organisations, he has developed and implemented robust contractual frameworks that ensure project success while minimising legal and financial risks.

Currently pursuing a PhD in Construction Law (Law and Built Environment), Abiola’s research—partly sponsored by the Society of Construction Law (SCL)—focuses on adversarialism in UK construction and the codification of statutory good faith in contracts. His expertise spans FIDIC, NEC, and JCT contracts, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and international arbitration, making him a sought-after authority in dispute resolution, adjudication, and regulatory compliance.

Abiola serves as Global General Counsel for How to Change the World (HTCTW Global Limited), where he oversees multi-million-dollar transactions, regulatory compliance, and complex commercial agreements. He is also Head of Legal at BESA Group, a leader in the engineering and built environment sector, and General Counsel & Chief of Operations at PSJ UK, managing governance and compliance for a global peacebuilding and social justice organisation.

Beyond his legal practice, Abiola is actively involved in Africa Construction Law (ACL), contributing to thought leadership in the field.

Abiola also leads the LL.M in Construction Law at Liverpool John Moores University, delivered in partnership with Informa Connect, where he mentors students conducting ethical and impactful research in construction, energy, infrastructure, and engineering.

Recognised for his contributions to construction law, Abiola is the 2025 Global Law Experts Award winner for Construction & Engineering Law Expert of the Year (UK). His blend of academic research and real-world experience has saved organisations millions in legal costs, strengthened contract efficiency, and positioned him as a leading expert in global construction contract management.
