Capt. Pradeep Chawla joined sea as cadet in 1974 and got command at age 29. He sailed on various ship types.

He wrote a book on safety at sea, called “Jahaz par Suraksha” in Hindi in 1992. This book is the only maritime book that was also made as an audio book.

He was the Group Managing Director, QHSE and Training with the Anglo Eastern Univan Group. He retired after 31 years of service in the office.

He oversaw QHSE and Training for over 650 vessels. He overlooked the training and development of over 30,000 sailing staff and over 1800 shore staff.

He was instrumental in the establishment of training centers in Mumbai, Delhi, Manila, Odessa and Shenzhen.

He was also instrumental in the setting up of the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy in India. 480 cadets graduate from this academy each year.

He has conceptualized, supervised and implemented IT platforms for a Learning Managing System, a Competence Management System, Virtual Reality Training System and Gaming Apps as well as software for monitoring of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Management.

He was also responsible for the implementation of software for tracking, charterparty compliance, CII compliance and connected ships for machinery monitoring.

He has, in the past, served as a Vice-President & Council member of the Nautical Institute, UK.

He is the Chairman of Global MET Association, which is an association of training institutes in the world.

He is a member of the Intertanko Human Element Group and member of the Intertanko/OCIMF Steering Group on Human Element.

He is a member of the Standard Club Safety and Loss Advisory Committee – Asia.

He is now the CEO and Founder of Maritime Knowledge Ltd which is providing a Digital Learning Management System, with contents of videos, gaming apps and VR programs, with detailed analytics on the learning mindset of an organization.
