Profile

Marie Cooper is Director of Crewing at global ship management company, Zodiac Maritime, world recognised for their technical excellence and wide range of managed vessels.

Marie has extensive experience in crewing and maritime HR. She has played fundamental roles in managing structural reorganisations, and building new teams to drive improvements in crew management across the maritime sector. Beginning her maritime career at P&O Nedlloyd, Marie went on to join A. P. Moller-Maersk where she progressed to Head of Marine People Strategy over a 17-year period, before joining Zodiac Maritime as Director of Crewing in 2022.

Marie is passionate about the maritime industry and the people who make it work – from Cadets and Trainees to Captains and Chief Engineers, Marie has a specific interest in fostering working environments that empower young, aspiring adults to embark on a successful career in the maritime industry.

With a wider interest in technology and innovation, Marie feels that it is essential for the maritime industry to quickly adopt advancing technology and continue to innovate to maintain training standards and compliance with changing legislation. Crucially, companies must equip marine personnel, at sea and on shore, with the necessary skills and training to ensure successful and sustainable adoption of new technologies.

As an integral part of the wider supply chain, Marie is passionate about ensuring the maritime industry stays up to date by providing the people within it the tools, knowledge and power to do so.
