Carl is the co-founder of Noatun Maritime, established in 2020, and a veteran of maritime and energy sectors with nearly three decades of operational experience. His career spans ship management and crewing operations across Asia and Europe, including 14 years with Maersk and leadership roles with Odfjell and AboJeb, where he transformed loss-making operations into profitable ventures while securing major manning agreements with Maersk Tankers, Bahri, and Diana Shipping.

With parallel expertise in renewable energy—including offshore wind development and green marine fuels—he has worked extensively on the convergence of maritime decarbonization and energy transition, including direct negotiations with A.P. Moller-Maersk on sustainable fuel solutions. His current work developing crew supply infrastructure in Kenya and the Philippines positions him at the intersection of three critical industry pressures: demographics, digitalization, and decarbonization.

Known for his skepticism of competence frameworks that prioritize certification over comprehension, he argues that the maritime industry is training for the wrong metrics—producing audit trails rather than actual capability. His "premortem" perspective warns that by 2032, we will have certified a generation on conditions nobody has encountered, overseen by instructors equally unprepared. He is developing Experienship to address the knowledge gap created by aging out experienced officers precisely when their insight is most needed.
