Rebecca H. Mejia is the Public Health Manager at Marine Benefits, a company specializing in health insurance for seafarers and their families while at home. She is deeply committed to improving the health and wellbeing of seafarers and brings both academic expertise and a strong personal passion to this work.
Rebecca is responsible for coordinating Re:fresh, the largest health and wellbeing study on seafarers developed by Marine Benefits. Through this initiative, she leads efforts to systematically track seafarers’ health and wellbeing using a holistic, data-driven approach. She also serves as project manager for Re:start, a health promotion programme tailored specifically to the needs of the shipping industry, with a focus on creating practical, impactful improvements.
Rebecca holds a PhD in Public Health from the Department of Social Medicine and Global Health at Lund University, where her research focused on seafarers’ health, wellbeing, and health promotion. She also holds a Master of Science in Public Health from Malmö University.
