Capt. Gurpreet Singh Ahluwalia brings more than 25 years of experience in the maritime industry spanning seagoing command, maritime training, organisational transformation, business development and international industry engagement. He currently serves as Group General Manager – Training & Development at Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), where he leads the company's global training network across India, the Philippines, China, Cyprus, Poland and Ghana.

Over his more than 10 years in shore-based roles with BSM, he has expanded the company’s training capabilities and developed competency frameworks for the shipping industry, in particular the design and implementation of training programmes for methanol-, ethanol- and ammonia-fuelled vessel operations.

In addition, Gurpreet represents the company in international maritime forums and industry initiatives. He participates in the IMO Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW) Sub-Committee and collaborates with international organisations on seafarer competency standards and maritime energy transition strategies.

Gurpreet spent 16 years at sea, progressing to the rank of Captain and has experience for six years in shipping logistics. He holds professional certifications as a trainer and ISO external auditor, as well as a degree in Nautical Technology from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
