Chief Engineer Mark Phillip “Chief MAKOi” Laurilla is the Training Manager for Digital Transformation and Innovation at the Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training (PHILCAMSAT), part of The PTC Group of Companies. He leads initiatives in digital learning, maritime training innovation, immersive technologies, and the development of next-generation training solutions designed to prepare seafarers for the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.

A seasoned marine engineer with more than 25 years of maritime experience, including 13 years as Chief Engineer, his career spans seafaring, maritime education and training, technology, management, and industry advocacy. He has held leadership positions in maritime training and education and continues to contribute to industry discussions on competency development, digital transformation, and the future maritime workforce.

Widely known as Chief MAKOi, he is also a maritime content creator and advocate with around half a million followers across his global social media platforms. Through PHILCAMSAT, The PTC Group of Companies, international industry engagements, and his digital platforms, he promotes maritime careers, continuous professional development, and the preparation of the next generation of seafarers.
