Richthofen C. De Jesus obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas-Manila. From there, he obtained a license as a Psychometrician and Psychologist from the Professional Regulatory Commission; a certification in Dementia Rating from the University of Washington-St. Louis; and a certification in Psychological First aid from the Johns Hopkins University. In his 14-year career as a Mental Health Advocate, he practiced among the finest hospitals in the country: The UST Hospital, St. Luke’s Medical Center-BGC, and Asian Hospital to name a few. He also taught at the University of Santo Tomas, where he co-authored the Book Biopsychology Made Easy and Understandable with his mentor Dr. Rosalito de Guzman. In 2019, he joined 88 Aces Maritime Services to work as the Recruitment and Development Psychologist servicing the seafarers of the Scorpio fleet. There, he provides counseling and Psychotherapy not only to the seafarers, but to their families as well. In his tenure, he helped develop and implement programs within the Company such as the Mental Health Pre-departure Briefing, the Leadership in Practice Module, and the Resilience modules for seafarers. He also help set-up the Mental Wellbeing Ambassador (MWA) Program which is a peer- facilitation program used to help seafarers provide an immediate response to those who are distressed before professional help can be dispensed. This loving father of two is currently taking up a Doctor of Public Health degree at the University of The Philippines-Manila.
