James Halstead, Managing Director, is BlackRock’s Chief Investment Officer for European Value-Add Real Estate. He is responsible for investment strategy, originating and managing value add and opportunistic real estate investments across the region. He is a member of the European Real Estate Investment Committee and has invested in over $2bn of transactions at BlackRock across three European Value-Add funds. Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr Halstead was head of Transactions and Structuring at MGPA (which BlackRock purchased in 2013). Before that he practised law at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in London. Mr. Halstead holds an MBA from London Business School and LLB from Southampton University.
