Alan was involved in the creation of the first European Masters programme in Logistics and the Supply Chain at Cranfield University and subsequently became Head of the Distribution Studies Unit and Director of Studies for the MSc in 1986. His teaching specialisms include supply chain strategy, logistics network design, logistics outsourcing, freight transport planning and customer service. In recent years, has led the development and use of eLearning in the Cranfield School of Management, and has written a number of eLearning self-teaching modules in Transport and Logistics. In addition to his research and consultancy experience in transport and logistics, Alan has lectured both nationally and internationally and has published widely in these and associated areas.He is also co-author of the Handbook of Logistics and Distribution Management. The third edition was published in May 2006.
