Bill Schultheis founded Soundmark Wealth Management in 2000 and grew the firm to more than $453 million in assets under management. Soundmark, headquartered in Kirkland, WA, provided premier investment management and financial planning services, with a specialty in addressing the unique planning needs of medical and technology professionals, as well as small business owners. In 2024, as part of a succession plan for his team and clients, Bill sold Soundmark to Edelman Financial Engines. He is now a key member of the EFE Wealth Planning group, working to integrate his practice while positioning his team for future success at EFE.

Early in his career Bill realized there was an enormous opportunity to share an investment philosophy that was starting to capture the attention of investors – that the smart way to invest in the stock market was through low-cost index funds. This belief led him to develop The Coffeehouse Investor and built a career helping investors with actionable financial planning and investment advice that allows them to focus on what they can control, not the markets.

Prior to EFE and Soundmark, Bill was an advisor at Salomon Smith Barney for nearly 15 years. He began his career trading in the wheat pit at the Chicago Board of Trade.
