As Chief Investment Officer, Erik oversees portfolio research, investment strategy execution, and Empirical’s Portfolio Management team. He also works directly with clients to develop and maintain their investment portfolios. He is a frequent speaker at industry events, and has been recognized by Markets Group as an Elite Private Wealth CIO for the past two years as well as being included by InvestmentNews on their 2025 Hot List of financial professionals. Erik holds Masters degrees in Economics and Computational Finance, and has earned a number of professional certifications including the CFA and CAIA charters.

Additionally, Erik is a Chapter Executive of the Pacific Northwest chapter of the CAIA Association, and is the Treasurer of FinAbility, a nonprofit organization decided to financially empowering survivors of domestic abuse. Erik is an active member of his community and also serves on several city and district boards and commissions. He lives in Beaverton, OR with his fiancé and their rescue dog Marshmallow.
