FAQs on Quality Assessment
What is an organisational assessment?
In the context of the EFQM Certified Assessor course, an organisational assessment is a structured, evidence-based evaluation of how well an organisation is designed, managed, and performing against the EFQM Model.
It examines how the organisation creates sustainable value for stakeholders by looking at:
Direction and strategy
Leadership and culture
Execution and performance
Results achieved over time
Unlike audits or compliance checks, an EFQM assessment focuses on maturity, effectiveness, and improvement potential, not just adherence to standards. Learn More
What are the key components of an assessment?
An EFQM assessment is built around three core components:
The EFQM Model criteria
These provide the framework for evaluating Direction, Execution, and Results across the organisation.RADAR Logic
A disciplined assessment approach used to evaluate:Approach (what the organisation plans)
Deployment (how consistently it is implemented)
Assessment & Refinement (how it learns and improves)
Results (what outcomes are achieved)
Evidence and scoring
Assessors review documented evidence, performance data, and stakeholder feedback to provide objective scoring and insights.
The course trains participants to apply all three consistently and professionally.
What is a Quality Management System (QMS)?
A Quality Management System (QMS) is the set of policies, processes, responsibilities, and controls used to ensure consistent delivery of value to customers and stakeholders.
Within the EFQM context:
A QMS is part of the organisation’s execution capability
It supports governance, process management, risk control, and continuous improvement
It is assessed not in isolation, but in terms of how well it supports strategy and results
The EFQM Certified Assessor course helps participants understand how QMS practices integrate with broader organisational excellence, rather than treating quality as a silo.
How is the assessment conducted?
An EFQM assessment follows a structured, multi-step process, typically including:
Preparation and review of organisational documentation
Evidence analysis against EFQM criteria
Interviews and discussions with leadership and key stakeholders (for site or live assessments)
Scoring using RADAR logic
Identification of strengths and improvement opportunities
Consensus building among assessors
Clear, actionable feedback reporting
The course provides hands-on practice in conducting assessments, scoring consistently, and writing high-quality feedback.
What is the role of an assessor?
An EFQM Assessor is a trusted, objective evaluator and improvement partner, not an auditor or consultant.
Their role includes:
Evaluating organisational practices against the EFQM Model
Applying RADAR logic objectively and consistently
Identifying strengths, gaps, and improvement opportunities
Contributing to consensus scoring
Providing clear, constructive, and evidence-based feedback
Upholding assessment ethics and professionalism
The EFQM Certified Assessor course develops assessors who can operate confidently in internal assessments, external assessments, award processes, and improvement programmes aligned with EFQM standards. Learn More
