Olivia Barnes is Head of Energy Transition for EnBW Trading, one of Germany's largest utilities. She leads the commercialisation of renewable assets, the expansion of flexible capacity including battery storage, and the build-out of the low-carbon molecule value chain, with a strong emphasis on delivering practical solutions for decarbonisation, both for EnBW's customer base and its own use.
With over twenty years in the energy sector, Olivia has a strong track record of managing complex origination and trading, flexibility optimisation, illiquid market positions, and building and implementing business models that integrate renewable assets, batteries and molecules. She began her career at ExxonMobil, working in gas and LNG and then spent 12 years at Vitol, trading the pan-European gas portfolio, developing upstream supply, building flexibility and positions in new illiquid markets. She joined EnBW in 2021. Olivia holds a degree from Cambridge University and is a board director of EnBW Norway.
