William Zimmern is Executive Director and Head of Products in MSCI’s Carbon Markets business. He brings over 20 years of expertise in energy economics, carbon markets and strategic analytics.

Before joining MSCI, William spent over a decade at bp, where he led the bp Energy Outlook, shaping the company’s global energy scenarios and analytics on the energy transition. In his final two years, he was a Director in bp’s Low Carbon Trading business, focusing on carbon markets, biofuels and emerging low-carbon energy solutions.

Prior to bp, William led PwC’s Macroeconomic Consulting practice, specializing in economic modeling and forecasting for multinational clients. He began his career in UK central government, serving in HM Treasury and the Department for Work and Pensions, advising on economic policy and regulatory strategy.
