Ms. Isabel Gumeyi is the Head of CIMA's Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) and FinTech Innovation Unit. She leads the design and implementation of regulatory frameworks for virtual assets and FinTech, ensuring compliance with the Virtual Asset (Service Providers) Act and related laws, and fostering a secure, transparent market for blockchain and digital assets in the Cayman Islands. She is the current co-chair of the Cayman Islands National Risk Assessment virtual assets vulnerabilities working group.
Ms. Gumeyi joined CIMA in 2024 after serving as a Director at PwC Cayman Island's Risk Assurance and Advisory Services, specializing in IT governance, risk management, compliance, technology audit and advisory. With 20+ years' experience across the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and Zimbabwe, she has audited and advised companies in diverse industries and multiple jurisdictions including , Europe and United States with a focus on areas such as risk management, IT assurance, cybersecurity, digital assets and blockchain. She holds an MSc in Digital Currencies (University of Nicosia) and a BBA in Computer Management Information Systems (Solusi University). Ms. Gumeyi is an Accredited Director and holds various certifications including CISA,CISM and PMP and is a previous contributor to the Cayman Finance Innovation Lab and the Institute of Internal Auditors Cayman Islands chapter (past President & past Board of Governors of IIA Cayman Islands Chapter). She frequently speaks on virtual asset regulatory best practices as well as on leadership and coaching.
