Profile
James is the business editor of the Cayman Compass. He leads Compass Media's print, digital and TV coverage of asset management, insurance and reinsurance, digital assets and real estate.
He joined the Compass from Fastmarkets, a UK-headquartered commodity-focused price-reporting agency. James served as the Europe base metals editor, leading a team of reporters that covered copper, aluminium, nickel, zinc, lead and tin.
His career as an investment journalist began in 2008, covering the European equity markets for Forbes. That was followed by two years spent in Asia, Africa and Latin America writing investment stories for US B2B magazines, such as Oil & Gas Investor and Engineering & Mining Journal.
He returned to London in 2010 to write for MoneyWeek, before founding LatAm INVESTOR – the UK's only Latin America-focused investment magazine in 2013. During more than ten years as editor, he interviewed heads of state, portfolio managers, CEOs and central bank governors about macroeconomic and investment trends in the region.
