Lucy Frew is based in Walkers' Cayman Islands Office, where she heads the global Regulatory & Risk Advisory Group. She joined the firm in 2016 and brings over 20 years' experience of advising clients on financial services and markets regulation and risk management. Lucy's clients are investment funds, banks, and other financial institutions, multinational corporations and digital assets and fintech businesses, including a range of infrastructure and services providers. Typical matters range from strategic and structuring advice to the full range of financial regulatory applications and notifications as well as day-to-day financial regulatory compliance, training, audit and documentation and contentious financial regulatory matters and risk management. Many of Lucy’s matters have a cross-border element.
Prior to joining Walkers, Lucy headed the financial regulatory practice at her former firm in London. She has advised financial institutions in private practice at international law firms in London since 2001, prior to which she practiced as barrister at the independent bar in London and has in-house experience as legal counsel at UBS. She was also seconded to the UK Financial Conduct Authority (Financial Conduct Authority).
Lucy has served on many boards and committees, with a particular focus on risk management, governance and financial and cybercrime prevention. She is actively involved in many industry working groups.
