Mark Schein is the Global Chief Compliance Officer, overseeing Värde’s global compliance and audit functions. Based in New York, he joined the firm in 2020.

Prior to joining Värde, Mark served as Global Chief Compliance Officer of York Capital Management. Prior to that, Mark held positions at U.S. Trust Company, where he served as Director of Broker Dealer Compliance, and Schwab Capital Markets, where he served as Director of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance. Mark started his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office before working as a Trial Counsel in the New York Stock Exchange’s Enforcement Division.

Mark received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Economics and American Studies. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
