Robert “Bob” Shanahan currently serves as the President of Wintrust Business Credit (WBC). He and his staff currently manage an Asset Based Portfolio with commitments exceeding $3.5 billion. For the last 17 years with Wintrust, Shanahan has been responsible for the introduction and the overall strategic development and growth of this asset-based group. In 2018, Wintrust Receivables Finance (WRF) was created under WBC. WRF is a receivables finance operation concentrating on the staffing and transportation industries. Current commitments in WRF exceed $300 million.
Shanahan started his career in 1984 as a Tax Accountant and worked for Peat Marwick and The Harris Bank. Soon after, he received commercial banking training and moved into the commercial banking arena in 1990 while working at NBD Bank.
Shanahan held various progressive positions in the Asset Based Lending Group of Chase Business Credit (FKA NBD, American National Bank, Bank One and Chase) from 1990 to 2005, prior to his move to Wintrust.
Shanahan has a BS/BA in Accounting from Drake University and earned his MBA in 2003 from Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University).
Shanahan currently lives in Arlington Heights with his wife Cathy. He has three grown children, Stephanie and Maggie and TJ. He currently is a member of Rolling Green Country Club. Hobbies include golf and boating on Lake Michigan.
