Jonathan Trott serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer of Griffin Capital Residential Partners responsible for strategy formation, structuring, and execution of the Build-to-Rent business at Griffin Capital.

He previously served as Co-Chief Investment Officer at Capital Square, where he led the firm’s investment strategy and execution, focused on residential housing. Prior to joining Capital Square, Jon led the build-for-rent division at Amherst, one of the largest owners and operators of single-family rentals in the U.S., with a national portfolio of more than 45,000 homes. At Amherst, he led capital raising efforts, originated new investment opportunities, and oversaw the group’s strategy and operations.

Earlier in his career, Jon was an investment professional at Spear Street Capital, a San Francisco-based real estate private equity firm focused on office assets across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. He began his career at J.P. Morgan, where he worked directly with the CEO of Asset Management on strategic initiatives and M&A transactions.

Jon holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Tufts University.
