Niklas Ekvall is CEO of the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4). AP4 is a long-term investor with a strong focus on sustainability, especially within climate change and corporate governance. AP4 was ranked first in the AODP global ranking of pensions funds’ approach to climate change in 2018.

Before joining AP4, Niklas was group treasurer of Nordea, the largest bank in the Nordics. Previously, Niklas has held positions such as head of private banking at Nordea and head of asset management at Nordea, Carnegie and AP3 respectively.

Niklas has a PhD degree in financial economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, where he also has held positions as Professor (adjunct) and Associate Professor. He serves respectively has served on many boards whereof currently on the board of Vasakronan, the largest real estate company in Sweden, and on the investment committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
