Omar is EY’s EMEIA Financial Services Managing Partner, leading a team of over 760 partners and 17,000 people working across 18 countries in the areas of Audit, Assurance, Consulting, Strategy & Transactions, Tax and Legal.
Omar has been appointed as Global Financial Services Leader at EY effective from 1 July 2024
Omar joined EY in 2001, becoming partner in 2006. Prior to his current role, Omar was the Managing Partner for EY’s UK Financial Services business. Since joining EY, Omar has helped the financial services sector tackle some of its biggest challenges, from greening the economy, supporting economies grow, improving the diversity of boardrooms and business, to refinancing business post-COVID.
Omar is a Board Director of TheCityUK, where he Chairs the Long Term Competitiveness Group. He has supported a number of high profile government reviews, including at the UK Department of International Trade, and has led the International workstream of HM Treasury’s FinTech Strategic Review. He has also accompanied government ministers on global trade visits.
Omar is a committed leader on DE&I and supporting the next generation through the diversification of skills and talent within Financial Services. He has made public commitments on improving Gender and BAME representation and anti-racism. He is also the sponsor of the EY European Financial Services Boardroom Monitor, research that analyses the diversity and skills of Europe’s financial services boardrooms and shares insights with the industry.
