Sérène El Masri was appointed CEO of Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) Monaco in 2019. Before joining UBP, she held a number of positions in the financial sector and in wealth management in particular. These included Head of the Middle East and Africa Market for Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, as well as Head of Deutsche Bank Switzerland in Geneva. From 1999 to 2011, she was with BNP Paribas Wealth Management, in the Gulf and in Switzerland. Sérène is also a member of the Monaco financial sector association (Association Monégasque des Activités Financières – AMAF) and of the Monaco Labour Court (Tribunal du Travail). An Italian national born in Lebanon, she speaks five languages and is trained as a lawyer, with a diploma from the Sorbonne in Paris. As regards UBP, it was founded in 1969 by Edgar de Picciotto and ranks among the largest Swiss private banks. Based in Geneva, the bank has sites in more than 30 key financial and economic jurisdictions, its Monaco branch having been set up in 2014.
