Stephen worked at HM Treasury for six years from 2004, including as Private Secretary to the Chief Economic Advisor during the Global Financial Crisis, Head of G20 Logistics in 2009 for the UK’s Presidency and then Head of International Sanctions.
He then spent seven years at Barclays as Head of Public Policy for the Retail Bank, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Group Chief Executive and Director of Strategic Communications. During his time at Barclays, Stephen worked extensively on quarterly, half and full year results, in addition to Group Strategy and crisis work, including the Libor scandal in 2012 and four changes of CEO.
Stephen then joined KPMG as Head of Communications, overseeing the turnaround of the firm following the collapse of Carillion and a string of audit and cultural problems, before moving to Blackstone where he spent a number of years as Senior Managing Director and Head of Corporate Affairs for EMEA, leading on a number of large transactions and building the firm’s reputation across the region.
More recently, Stephen was Chief Corporate Affairs and Brand Officer for BT. He has a BA Hons in Theatre and English and an MA in Creative Writing.
