Tom Spoerel joined Becton, Dickinson & Company (BD) in 2015 and currently serves as its Chief Accounting Officer and CFO – International. In Tom’s capacity as CAO, his primary focus is to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of BD’s financial statements. In pursuit of this core Finance mission, he oversees global accounting policy and financial reporting, supports acquisition diligence and integration, and manages the accounting operations of its global shared service network. In his capacity as CFO – International, Tom has stewardship over the company’s regional financial performance to ensure sustained profitable growth across all markets outside of North America. Representing over $8B in revenue, BD’s operations outside North America serves patients and customers across both developed and emerging markets. Tom began his career in public accounting and, after spending 9 years with Ernst & Young, joined a global pharmaceutical manufacturing company in 2009. As Controller, he guided the company through an IPO in 2014 before joining BD. Tom holds a BS in Accounting from Fordham University and an MBA from Columbia University. He enjoys golf in the warmer months and skiing in the winter. He resides in Maplewood, NJ with his wife of 17 years and 3 children.
