Hiro Usuda is Scouting & Transaction Lead, Business Development at Astellas. He moved to Cambridge, UK, in 2021 when Astellas launched a BD office there. He is responsible for introducing European technologies and assets to global Astellas, communicating with external partners, and creating new collaborations, licensing, M&A, and investments (including those in Cell and gene therapy). Hiro started his career at Astellas as a medicinal chemist, developing candidate drugs in immunology and oncology drug candidates as a bench chemist and group leader.
