Dr. Bakouni is a highly experienced Learning and Development Manager within theSimulation Division of Maersk Training, with a versatile professional background in HumanResources, specialised in L&D, specifically within the Maritime industry for over a decade.

She holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour and Leadership from the University of Piraeus,an MSc in Human Resources from Athens University of Economics and Business, and a BAin International and European Relations from the University of Piraeus. Dr. Bakouni’sresearch interests lie in the ethical dimension of leadership and its psychologicalimpact on employees.

Certified as an ISM/ISPS/MLC Auditor and with diplomas in AdultLearning and Maritime Business Strategy, she seamlessly blendsher understanding of the shipping business with peoplemanagement. Additionally, as a certified Career Coachfrom the University of Aegean, she is dedicated tolifelong learning and continuous development.

Academically, Dr. Bakouni has served as a Senior Lecturer inHR for the University of Essex through Aegean College, andas an Academic Course Director specialising in maritimeHR and Crew Management for Lloyd’s Maritime Academy.

Committed to giving back, she actively engages as amentor for organisations such as Women on Top andJob-Pairs, contributing to professional growth andempowerment. Dr. Bakouni is also an HR advisor& mentor for Project Connect, aiming to empoweryounger generations. As a member of WISTA (Women’sInternational Shipping & Trading Association), sheis dedicated to advancing women’s roles within theshipping industry.
