Profile

Leonard Slosky has been Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Low-Level Radioactive Waste Board since 1983. He chaired the committee that drafted the Rocky Mountain Compact and was intimately involved in the passage of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Amendments Act of 1985. He was one of the founding members of the LLW Forum.

Slosky has served on the National Academy of Sciences’ Committee to Review New York State's Siting and Methodology Selection for Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal; assisted in the Plutonium Vulnerability Assessment at the Rocky Flats Plant; and was a member of the U.S. Secretary of Energy's Blue Ribbon Panel on the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. His experience in environmental policy also includes positions as the Governor of Colorado's Assistant for Science, Technology and Environmental Policy; and as a Staff Director in the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), Executive Office of the President. He has lectured at North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Advanced Study Institute on Environmental Impact and Risk Analysis in Les Arc, France. Slosky is the president of Slosky and Company, Inc., an environmental consulting firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental technology assessment from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
