Tara McCarthy co-founded Dovetail Consulting Group in 2016 after many years as an in-house biotech attorney, with the goal of providing practical healthcare compliance and privacy advice to life sciences companies. At Dovetail, she has brought together high-performing teams to support companies large and small across all elements of healthcare and privacy compliance. Dovetail works with both emerging and established companies to develop strategic approaches to compliance, tailoring program elements to the business needs of each client. The firm provides risk assessment and management solutions, fractional services for compliance and privacy operations, expert board and executive advice and communications support, and tactical project management and operations assistance with key functions, such as monitoring and auditing high-risk activities and conducting privacy impact and inventory analyses. Before Dovetail, Tara served in senior legal roles including SVP, General Counsel, and Secretary at Chiasma; VP of Commercial Law at Vertex; and Senior Corporate Counsel at Genzyme. Tara earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she also served as a graduate student instructor in Communications, and she holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
