Allen has over 30 years of construction and building envelope consulting experience, and his firm provides a full cladding consulting services, specializing in roofing and waterproofing. Allen has been an active member of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC, formerly RCI) since 1999, including being the past president in 2008 and again most recently in 2021. Allen has his Bachelors of Technology in Architectural Science (Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly Ryerson), is a Certified Engineering Technologist through OACETT and is also a Registered Roof Observer. Allen has published several papers and frequently presents at local and international events on topics ranging from roof renewal strategies for building operators, practitioner's perspective on ice damming and dual barrier roof design. He has also instructed the Roofing Technology, Maintenance and Inspection Roofing Training Course that provides a generic non-biased up-to-date with today's technology.
