Robert Hormuth is Corporate Vice President, Architecture and Strategy, in the AMD Data Center Solutions Group (DSG) responsible for creating the long-term vision and strategy along with industry ecosystem engagements. Robert has 38 years in the computing industry, joining AMD in 2020 after 13 years with Dell where he was CTO of the Server Business unit, 8 years with Intel and 11 years at National Instruments. Robert serves on the OCP board of directors and the University of Texas Computer Science Advisory Council.
Robert has a broad and deep technical background in hardware/software design; from ASIC design and verification, numerous IO adapters for test & measurement, FPGAs, software, and x86 embedded designs. Robert has been a champion of open industry innovation throughout his career from working on VMEbus, VXIbus, PCI, PCIe, NVMe, and recently helped form Ultra Ethernet and Ultra Accelerator Link along with formation of the x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group. Robert earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and currently holds 47 patents.
