Majid is a leading voice in the integration of road safety engineering and Artificial Intelligence to create safer, smarter transport systems. As Corporate Road Safety Advisor at Petroleum Development Oman, he drives the company’s Safe Road pillar, delivering strategic, engineering, and awareness initiatives that have measurably improved infrastructure safety and reduced crashes.

A pioneer in the region, Majid led the first implementation of the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) in Oman, setting new benchmarks for infrastructure risk assessment. His portfolio includes high-impact projects such as the Darb Al Salama initiative and technical road audits for low-volume intersections in challenging environments.

Currently a PhD candidate in Transportation Sciences at Hasselt University, Belgium, Majid’s research focuses on applying AI and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to enhance transport infrastructure resilience and operational safety. He is a professional registered engineer and holds a Master’s in Transportation Infrastructure Engineering from the University of Nottingham and is recognized for blending rigorous technical analysis with effective stakeholder engagement, working closely with ministries, law enforcement, and industry leaders.

A dynamic and persuasive communicator, Majid has spoken at prestigious platforms including the UN 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Marrakech, IRF World Congress 2024, and Oman’s OPEC Technical Forum 2025, where he presented innovative approaches to road risk assessment and vision for AI in Road Safety. His unique perspective bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical safety solutions, making him a valuable contributor to discussions on urban mobility, smart transport, and AI-driven safety strategies.
