Prof. Mohammed Aljoufie is a Professor of Transportation Planning at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, King Abdulaziz University. Prof. Aljoufie has a PhD in Urban Transportation Planning from University of Twente, The Netherlands. His area of expertise is urban transportation planning, integrated land use/ transport dynamic interaction modelling, public transport planning and urban spatial analysis.
Prof. Aljoufie worked as a full time Mobility and Transportation Advisor (lead) at Jeddah Development Authority (JDA) from January 2021 to January 2025. He worked also as a full and part-time lead consultant in several urban and regional strategic plans, urban planning and transportation planning projects with international leading firms such as Ramboll (from July 2013 to March 2014) and A.T. Kearny (from February 2019 to October 2019). Moreover, he worked as a senior consultant with UN- Habitat in Future Saudi Cities Programme for Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA) from March 2016 to September 2017.
Prof. Aljoufie was formerly the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning at King Abdulaziz University (2014-2021). He has been selected as a member of Advisory Board for Saudi Intermobility Expo 2024 and as a jury member for several international urban planning and design competitions. He has published many scientific and technical articles in highly reputable international journals relevant to his area of expertise and he is also a reviewer and an editorial member in several international journals.
