IMAM ABDULRAHMAN BIN FAISAL UNIVERSITY
Profile
Transportation and Traffic Engineering (TTENG) program at College of Engineering in Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University is a relatively new specialty separated from the broad field of Civil Engineering. It is a new discipline of engineering in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) as standalone bachelor's degree in engineering disciplines. TTENG covers aspects of highway engineering, traffic engineering, transportation and travelling in general. The program was established in the year 2012 to provide specialized engineers in the field of transportation and traffic engineering after the urgent need for such specialist has become apparent in the local, regional and international labor market. There is a wide gap between the requirement and the availability of national transportation and traffic engineers in all sectors. The opportunities open to forthcoming transport Engineers are enormous. The challenge and objective are to prepare the students graduating from the department to achieve the required skills and knowledge. Since its establishment, the department has taken steady steps towards achieving scientific and academic excellence in order to stay at par with other departments within and outside the university. The establishment of the Department of Transportation and Traffic Engineering, with the philosophy of the program being to bridge the gap in transport and traffic for infrastructural design. In addition, to integrate engineering knowledge with practical training in order to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety in the field of transportation. This requires design and research on application of the latest technologies in transport systems and their integration to provide engineering solutions to practical problems. |
