Stephan Caron, Managing Director, is Head of Global Direct Lending within BlackRock Portfolio Management Group (PMG). In this role, he is responsible for leading the Global Direct Lending platform, leading the investment strategy, the investment process, risk management & performance. He is Chairman of the Investment Committee for BlackRock's European Private Debt business and is the lead Portfolio Manager of BlackRock's European Middle Market Private Debt Funds. He also serves on BlackRock's Global Private Debt Executive Committee and is a member of the BlackRock European Growth Debt Investment Committee. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2014 Mr. Caron was Chief Commercial Officer at GE Capital Bank Ltd, where he was leading a team investment professionals across 5 different businesses in EMEA responsible for originating, structuring and executing mid-market lending and leasing transactions. He was also member of the GE Capital Bank UK Executive and Investment Committees and member of the EMEA leveraged finance Executive Committee. He was with GE for 14 years in roles of increasing responsibility in structured finance, equity investing, Mergers & Acquisitions and leveraged finance. Prior to that Mr. Caron worked at Suez and JP Morgan. Mr Caron earned an undergraduate degree from ISG in Paris is 1991 and a Masters from ESCP-EAP European School of Management in 1992. He is also a two-time Olympic medallist in swimming.
