Archibald “Archie” Ciganer, CFA, is Managing Partner of Artemis Ventures, a Japan-focused venture capital firm backed by MUFG.

Archie has more than 20 years of investment and financial markets experience in Japan. Prior to founding Artemis, he spent 18 years at T. Rowe Price Japan, where he served as a portfolio manager for the firm’s Japan Equity Strategy and as CIO of the investment division. During his tenure, he led investments across both public and private markets and, from 2018 onward, was an early practitioner of crossover investing in Japan, backing late-stage growth companies ahead of and beyond IPO.

At Artemis, he leads the firm’s strategy of investing in high-quality Japanese startups at the mid-to-late stage, including crossover and secondary opportunities. He brings a long-term, public-markets-informed investment approach and an extensive network across Japan’s corporate, financial and startup ecosystems.
