Chad Ovel is a Partner at Mekong Capital, which he joined in 2013. With over 25 years of experience in private equity, operations, and leadership — primarily focused on Vietnam — he specializes in business turnarounds, rapid scaling, leadership development, and cross-cultural management. Previously, he served as CEO of AA Corporation (delivering 51% CAGR and major EBITDA improvements), Managing Director at ScanCom International (positioning it as the world’s largest hardwood garden furniture producer), and Project Director at the WWF Indochina Program, where he helped establish Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. He has led successful private equity investments in pharmaceuticals, retail, logistics, and consumer sectors. Chad has lived and worked in Vietnam since 1996, with prior experience in the US and China. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in International Studies from Carleton College.
