Chad Ovel is a Partner at Mekong Capital. Having lived and worked continuously in Vietnam since September 1996, he brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience driving value creation and operational excellence in the Vietnamese market.

Prior to Mekong Capital, Chad built a strong track record as CEO, leading the rapid expansion of a foreign-owned export manufacturing business and steering a prominent local Vietnamese company across the construction, retail, and manufacturing sectors.

Since 2013, he has been instrumental in Mekong Capital’s investments, fundraising efforts, and successful exits across the consumer, healthcare, logistics, education, and retail sectors. He serves on multiple portfolio company boards and coaches leaders within the firm and its investee companies, with a particular focus on vision-driven leadership and cross-cultural management.

Chad holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a BA in International Studies from Carleton College, supplemented by studies at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
