Head of APAC Alternatives Institutional Client Strategy at J.P. Morgan Asset Management

Charles Wu, Managing Director, is Head of APAC Alternatives Institutional Client Strategy for J.P. Morgan Asset Management across Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APAC ex‑Japan). In this role, he oversees strategy across the full spectrum of private markets for institutional clients in the region. He brings more than 18 years of experience all in alternatives, spanning both direct investing and capital allocation. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Charles was a Director at Barings Asset Management where he focused on private credit strategies. Before that, he served as Managing Director at Manulife, helping to build and manage the firm’s private markets investments in APAC, including having served as a board observer and on limited partner advisory committees (LPACs) for strategic alts partners.

Charles began his career in investment banking and private equity at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. After relocating to Asia in 2014, he joined Morgan Stanley’s Financial Institutions Group (FIG), advising insurers, banks and asset managers on M&A and capital markets transactions. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is a CFA charterholder.
