Emanuele Colonnelli is the Joseph L. Gidwitz Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His work spans topics including global venture capital and private equity, geopolitics, corporate governance, family offices, and impact investing. He has research and work experience across a number of emerging markets in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and regularly conducts worldwide surveys and field experiments with firms and investors. Beyond his research, Colonnelli serves on the Board of the Jameel Poverty Action Lab and holds leadership roles across a number of University of Chicago and Chicago Booth centers and initiatives. He also advises several development finance institutions, venture capital and private equity funds, families, and companies globally. Colonnelli holds a PhD in Economics from Stanford University and an MSc in Economics from Bocconi University. He was previously on the faculty at Harvard Business School. His honors include the 2023 Carlo Alberto Medal, a biennial prize awarded to the best Italian economist under 40, and the Poets & Quants 40 Under 40 Best MBA Professors.
