With over three decades of experience in the technology and startup ecosystems across Asia and the Americas, Michael Smith Jr. is a AI Evangelist at Oracle, driving innovative cloud solutions with a focus on infrastructure and AI. Michael is also the Private Capital lead for Oracle in Asia where he works with Private Equity and Venture Capital Firms to help their portfolio companies with Oracle Technology and technical innovation. As the co-host of The Generalists Podcast, Michael engages with interesting Generalists to explore the intersections of technology, business, and culture.

Michael’s extensive background includes pivotal roles at Microsoft, AWS, and Yahoo, where he led startup initiatives, spearheaded global tech strategies, and fostered strategic partnerships in the APAC region. His entrepreneurial spirit is evident through his active angel investments in startups such as Datature, Norbert Health, Moglix, Qoala, Lanturn, Poddster, Palki Motors, Priyo Shop, Chayya and Logisly - to name a few.

Prior to his roles at big tech, Michael served as CTO at HOOQ and Chief Product Officer at Spuul, where he orchestrated product development and business strategies for online video. His early career includes influential positions at WebLogic and BEA Systems - which was acquired by Oracle.
