Profile

Shweta is the President and CEO of the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), an industry alliance of India’s new-age companies. The Forum’s members include 75+ of India’s high-growth startups representing over $100bn in valuation. SPF’s mission is to be a trusted partner to founders and policymakers. It engages in policy advocacy for new-age companies, promotes Indian startups on a global stage and brings together a curated community of founders and startup ecosystem enablers.

Shweta is a public policy and media professional with over 25+ years of experience across venture capital, technology and media companies. She has led public policy teams in Asia for Peak XV, Sequoia Capital India, Salesforce and Uber. She has worked closely with founders, governments and regulators to champion key issues for the startup ecosystem. She is a Member of SEBI’s Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee and World Economic Forum’s Advisory Council on AI 2030.

Prior to her public policy career, Shweta was an award-winning journalist, widely acclaimed for her in-depth coverage of India’s economic landscape.

She is a recipient of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Fellowship for global leaders by the US State Department. She was awarded the British Chevening Scholarship for Print Journalism, and the Asian Forum on Global Governance (AFGG) Fellowship.Shweta has received several honours in Journalism including the coveted Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism by President Pratibha Patil and the Business Standard Seema-Nazareth Award for Young Journalists by President KR Naraynan at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

A Bachelors in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College, and a Masters in Political Science from University of Delhi, Shweta has undertaken mid-career programs at the Wharton Business School, INSEAD Business School and the University of Westminster.
