Saemundur (Saemi) manages Iceland’s state fund of funds investing in venture. Kría was established in 2021 as part of the government of Iceland’s innovation policy. Kría invests in VC funds operating in Iceland with clear investment strategies and mandates, with seasoned investment professionals and internationally recognized fund structures.

Before joining Kría, Saemundur was the head of Business Development and Public Affairs for the Embassy of Canada to Iceland. He also held roles in finance and operations, including positions in capital markets and working with institutional investors. Saemundur holds a BSc in International Business and Finance from the University of Reykjavik and a MSc in Environmental Management and Policy from Lunds Universitet in Sweden.
