Danita Johnson is the Head of Private Markets at the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS), where she oversees investments across private equity, private credit, real estate, and infrastructure.

Before joining NHRS, Ms. Johnson served as a Managing Director in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System’s (MSRPS) Investment Division and as a Principal Investment Officer for the Connecticut Office of the State Treasurer. In these capacities, she managed real assets portfolios that included public and private real estate, infrastructure, energy, and natural resources. Earlier in her career, Ms. Johnson was a member of the Private Real Assets team at Franklin Templeton Investments, where she served as a Portfolio Manager for several separate global accounts and helped launch the firm’s emerging manager and ESG initiatives. She also held prior roles with the NYC Comptroller’s Office, the Equity Research Group of Prudential Financial and the Credit Risk Management Division of Credit Suisse.

Ms. Johnson earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She serves on the Limited Partner Advisory Council for the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), the Investor Board for Alternative Investments Forum (AIF) Global, the FTSE Russell Private Markets Advisory Committee, the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) and the Executive Board and Social Impact Committee of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA).
