John Anderson is a 35-year infrastructure investor who has also been a market-leader in sustainable investing and energy transition through the Manulife investment program.


The Manulife life insurance companies include a $310 billion global investment portfolio.


  • This portfolio supports the Manulife’s life insurance companies in their home market Canada, their largest single market the US, and their fastest growing market Asia.


  • John is a member of Manulife’s Global Leadership Team and of the investment committee for this global life insurance portfolio.


In addition to his responsibility for the overall investment portfolio, John has specific responsibility for investment teams, including


  • $26 billion infrastructure equity investment program active in both digital infrastructure and energy transition.


  • $150 billion investment-grade corporate lending program across private placement and public bond markets that includes 2,000 borrowers around the world, and


John’s Sustainable Investing highlights through this role include:


  • Past Chair of the Principles for Responsible Investing investor advisory committee for Infrastructure
  • Judge for the Sustainable Debt Awards sponsored by Sustainable Finance magazine.
  • First life insurance company to join the American Council on Renewable Energy

John holds an MBA from Georgetown University and received his BA in Economics from The University of Chicago.
