Profile

With over 15 years of public accounting experience, I advise clients on a broad range of Canadian and international tax compliance, accounting and planning matters. Over half of my career has been spent specializing in domestic tax and reporting services—and I have extensive expertise in tax matters affecting multi-national manufacturing and distribution, energy and technology companies in Canada.

In January 2017, I was appointed National Practice Leader of Grant Thornton Canada’s emerging Tax Reporting & Advisory practice. Our new practice leverages cross-functional teams, smart processes, relationship matrices, open communication and client collaboration, allowing us to go beyond general tax services and address the evolving needs of today’s multi-national taxpayers. When serving a client, I seek to understand all aspects of their business and organizational structure to identify tax and financial reporting issues, risks and opportunities. From there, I work with them to frame their service profile and coordinate a team of specialists to deliver proactive solutions and information updates.

Working with my colleagues in the Kitchener-Waterloo Grant Thornton office, I am actively engaged in supporting Carizon, which is a local NPO that supports families in the Waterloo Region challenged with children’s mental health and other development issues. I also enjoy spending time at the Kitchener-Waterloo Racquet Club, where I previously completed a four-year term as Treasurer, as well as the Westmount Golf & Country Club. I am a graduate of Wilfred Laurier’s School of Business, and once upon a time, attended Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ on a NCAA Div I golf scholarship.

When I need to let my hair down, you can find me at home, being silly with my young son and daughter, or playing lead guitar for Grant Thornton’s very own Violet Flames rock band—a group of professionals across Southern Ontario that enjoy getting together to turn the volume to 11 in support of local communities and fundraising efforts.
